Obituary of Gary T. VanGalder

VanGALDER, Gary T. Age 61 of Elmira, NY. He was born July 21, 1951 in Savannah, GA, son of the late Donald and Hedy (Telecki) VanGalder and passed away Saturday, March 16, 2013 at home after an extended illness. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his mother-in-law Virginia N. Freeman Paul. Gary is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Patricia Freeman VanGalder; brother James (Phyllis) VanGalder of Hope Mills, NC; sister Sue (Thomas) Clark of Plato, MO; sister-in-law Debbie Freeman Jones of Lakeland, FL; brothers-in-law Donald (Brenda) Paul, Jr. of Elmira, Rick (Judy) Paul of Elmira and Bill (Jocelyn) Paul of Pine City along with several nieces and nephews, Gary was a disabled veteran serving in the U.S. Air Force. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Thursday, March 21st from 11 am to 1 pm, His funeral service will be held at 1 pm. Rev. Donald Paul, Jr., his brother-in-law, will officiate. Committal prayers and interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, his family requests contributions to help with final expenses be made to the funeral home. Envelopes will be provided. Gary's family gives a special thank you to CareFirst for the wonderful care they provided to him.
