Obituary of Joseph M. Duchy
Joseph Michael Duchy was peacefully welcomed by angels, on Tuesday, June 11, 2019. He was 56 years old.
Joe was born on June 28,1962 to Anna and Michael Duchy of Elmira, New York. He was predeceased by his brother Peter Duchy of Elmira, New York. He was a graduate of Corning Community College, where he met his wife Ruth Duchy, whom he married in December of 1982. Joe was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. His smile was contagious and his endless humor touched the hearts of all who knew him. He was endlessly generous and always put others before himself. He was a devout Catholic from his early days; holding the role as altar boy at St Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church.
Joe is survived by his wife Ruth Duchy of Horseheads, two daughters; Melissa Ann Anglin of San Diego, California and Ashley Marie Longwell of Rochester, New York, as well as granddaughter Nora Longwell. He is also survived by sisters and brother; Stella Duchy of Coconut Creek, Florida, and her children Alan and Christine; Kathy (Rolando) Navarro, of Land O Lakes, Florida; and Walter (Chris) Duchy of Ocala, Florida; sister-in-law Marie Duchy of Elmira Heights along with her grandson Kerrick Duchy of Elmira Heights.
A funeral service in memory of Joseph will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at 11:00 a.m., at St Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 410 E McCanns Blvd, Elmira Heights, NY 14903. Memorial donations in memory of Joseph may be made to Willmont Cancer Center, 601 Elmwood Ave, Rochester, NY 14642.
