Obituary of Jean A. Hoyt

HOYT, Jean A. Age 79 of Horseheads, NY. She was born December 25, 1939 in Elmira, NY, daughter of the late Harry M. and Juanita (Vunk) Hoyt and passed away Sunday, October 13, 2019 at home surrounded by her family. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings Betty Shaw, Nina Share, Phyllis French, Richard Hoyt and Floyd Hoyt, as well as her grandson Kenny Steele. She is survived by her son Danial (Tina) Wilber of Lowman; daughter Summer Young of Ithaca; grandchildren Tonyajean (Patrick) Ziegler of Elmira, James McCoy of TX, Victoria Garris of Elmira and Valerie (Chris) Wadley of Elmira, Nichalos Steele, Andrew Steele and Jean Buck all of Ithaca; several great grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews; goddaughter Pamatha (Mark) Nickerson of Horseheads; best friend and sister Erdina Chamberlain of Horseheads; brother Harry Guy Hoyt, and extremely special aide Tammy Rogers. Jean was co-owner of Designing Partners Hair Salon in Elmira Heights. She was a charter member of the Women of the Moose, Chapter 1832 Horseheads; a member of the NYS Guild Assoc. and traveled with the Mark Twain Cadets Drum & Bugle Corps. She was a 50 year member of Oakwood United Methodist Church and attended His Tabernacle Church for several years. Jean collected dolls, enjoyed crocheting and was a very avid card player (Skipbo). She lived by the Golden Rule "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you". Private services will be held at the convenience of the family with burial in Maple Grove Cemetery.
