Obituary of George Wendell Hand

G. Wendell Hand, Jr. Age 77 of Pine City, NY. He was born November 25, 1942 in Corning, NY, son of the late G. Wendell Hand, Sr. and Georgia C. Rice Hand. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister & brother-in-law Nellie and Robert Cook, nephew Ricky Cook all of Addison, NY, sister & brother-in-law Donna and Lewis Gorzycki of Osceola, PA, nephew Timothy Lewis Gorzycki of VA and brother-in-law William Gridley of Addison, NY. Wendell is survived by his partner, friend & business associate of 50 years, James W. Allen of Pine City; daughter Deborah Allen VanDeWalle of Elmira; sister & brother-in-law Erma and Richard Rogers of Addison, NY; sisters Joyce Gridley of Addison, NY and Doris Hand of Sarasota, FL; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; extended family Sharon Mashanic of Elmira. Wendell was co owner and operator of The Individual Look Beauty Salon in Elmira. He was manager of Kmart and merchandising manager of Joann Fabrics, both in Sarasota, FL. He attended Bethany Lutheran Church. Family and friends are invited to his Memorial Service and Celebration of Life on Saturday, December 28th at 11 am in Bethany Lutheran Church, 256 S. Walnut St., Elmira. He will be laid to rest in Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden, NY at the convenience of the family. His family thanks Dr. Corbalan, the Wilmot Cancer Center in Rochester, Arnot Ogden Medical Center, Chemung County Nursing Facility and all the caregivers who provided wonderful care to Wendell.
