Obituary of Eugene Faivre

Eugene "Gene" Louis Faivre Age 85 of Elmira Heights, NY. He was born June 18, 1934 in Geneva, NY, son of the late Abel and Esther Roupp Faivre and passed away Thursday, January 9, 2020 in Horseheads, NY. He married his wife Phyllis Welch Faivre on October 29, 1960, and she predeceased him on October 10, 2019. He is also predeceased by his son Allan, and brother James. He is survived by daughters Lynne (Tom) Menechella of Elmira Heights, Carol (Peter VanderMolen) Faivre of Waterloo, NY, Elaine (Joe) Thresher of Elmira Heights, and Jessica (Jeremiah) Hill of Walkertown, NC; grandchildren Abel (Vanessa Miller) Menechella and Amanda (Ian Mariasy) Menechella; Kathryn Faivre; Emily, Olivia, Ben, and Riley Thresher; Trevor, Garrett, Colton and Kinsley Hill. He is also survived by his sisters Geraldine Tucker and Beverly Welch, as well as sisters-in-law Ruth Faivre, Joan Ferguson, and Lila Welch. Gene was an auto mechanic for more than 50 years in Elmira Heights, first working with his father and later operating his own repair shop – both businesses known as Abe's Garage. He was well-known and respected for being honest, kind, and a hard-working family man. He loved spending time at the family cottage in Ontario, cooking for family and friends, picnics, fishing, reading, jigsaw and fill-in puzzles, coloring, and sharing jokes. Family and Friends are invited to his Celebration of Life at the First United Methodist Church, 1034 W. Broad St., Horseheads on Sunday, January 19, 2020, from 1-3PM.
