Obituary of Jennie Elijah

ELIJAH, Jennie Age 84 of Elmira, NY. She was born December 18, 1935 in Bainbridge, GA, daughter of the late Ben and Erma (Holt) Elijah and passed away Saturday, March 28, 2020 at the Steuben Center in Bath after a brief illness. She is survived by her son Phythias Elijah of Elmira; daughter and so-in-law Annie & Michael Watkins of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren Rashed and Jamel Washington both of Atlanta, GA, Corey Thomas of Kingston, NY and Grace Elijah of Buffalo, NY; great grandchildren Sheylah Bolden, Gregory Bolden and Brianna Coley; sister Ruby Hitchcock of Bath, NY along with a host of nieces and nephews including nephew Israel Howard of New Jersey, whom she had a special relationship with. Jennie retired from A&P Foods in Horseheads. She was a member of Fredrick Douglass Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church where she served as Sunday school superintendent and missionary; was a member of the Women's Home Mission society and the Nanny Burrows Club. It was her request that her services be private. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
