Obituary of Paul J. Gilboy

Paul J. Gilboy Age 87 of Elmira, NY. He was born January 30, 1934 in Scranton, PA, son of the late George and Irene (McCormick) Gilboy passed away Sunday, August 15, 2021. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter Elizabeth Ann. Paul is survived by his wife of 59 years, Lorraine (Knuth); children Michael (Kristy), Paula, Julie, Timothy (Danna), Christopher (Michelle), Eileen and Patrick (Debra) 9 granddaughters; 6 grandsons; 10 great grandchildren; sister Rose Ortell; brother George Gilboy along with several nieces and nephews. Paul retired from the Elmira City Fire Department after 31 years of service; prior to that, he was employed with Erie Lackawanna Railroad for 15 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave., Elmira on Sunday, August 22nd from 4 to 7 pm. Prayers will be offered there on Monday, August 23rd at 12:30 pm followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 1 pm in St. Patrick's Church. Committal prayers and interment, with military honors, will follow in St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery.
