Obituary of Virginia V. Harper
Virginia was born July 20, 1928 in Elmira NY. She is the daughter of the late Joseph Kubinski and Katherine Van De Boggart. She passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at Bethany Manor.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Francis W. Harper in 1997. She is survived by her five children: Cindy Hale (Jack) of Corning NY, Constance Bundens (David) of Woodbury NJ, Christopher Harper of Corning NY, Cathleen D'Ambrosio of Troy NY, and Cameron Harper (Mary) of Chesapeake VA plus eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Virginia attended Elmira schools, the New York University of Applied Arts and Sciences and Miss Beardsley's Commercial School. Virginia was a devoted member of the Elmira First Baptist Church. She was always involved in the community. She was part of the original Rotary Anns, Meals on Wheels, Free Community Kitchen, Girl Scouts, volunteered for the Red Cross/Blood Bank and Artic League. She was an Emergency Medical Technician. Virginia loved boating at the lake, walking on the beach, and picnicking at Harris Hill while watching the gliders. She loved family time at Keuka Lake. Virginia skied the entire length of Keuka Lake. Virginia enjoyed entertaining and was always preparing meals for friends and family. Her celebrations always included cake. She enjoyed visits with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a great conversationalist always genuinely interested in others. Friends and family are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake Street at Washington Ave., Elmira on Tuesday, February 14th from 10 to 11 am. Her Funeral Service will be held at 11am. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may remember Virginia through donations may to www.foodbankst.org.
Virginia's family thanks and appreciates the positive and kind staff at Bethany Village for the wonderful care they provided for her.
