Dear family and friends of John,
Please accept my sincere condolences for your loss. During this difficult time I hope you can find a measure of comfort from God's word where we are given comfort and hope. Revelation 21:4 assures us "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain anymore. The former things have passed away."

I am lighting this candle for you my love. No worries honey, it is a virtual candle and will not leave a scent in the air or dark spots on the ceiling. ;) <3

Tom with his Aunt Bonnie. An amazing weekend spent with Bonnie and Steven in Bern, NC. Tom was able to hold his birth father, Deacon Jim's guitar and banjo which was very special to him.

This photo is of Tom's sisters and brothers on his Mom's side of the family. Undoubtedly the craziest family ever! The joy and laughter that they continued to bring to his life since the moment they found out about him was irreplaceable. L to R or youngest to oldest, your choice.....Tina, Rich, Lisa, Vicki, Sue Karen Dave, Linda and Tom.

A moment to treasure for the Metcalf boys. Jay and Justin came to NC to celebrate Tom's birthday. Justin brought two motorcycles with him and Tom had his. The three took a motorcycle ride that created wonderful memories.

This photo is of Tom with his 102 Granny. The photo is of when she realized that he was her first born grandchild who had been placed into adoption at birth. Granny passed away one year ago this month. Many believe she waited because she had hoped one day she would meet her first born grandson.

Finding Tom's birth family has been one of the greatest treasures. He only had the opportunity to meet two of his siblings in person on his Dad's side. This photo has sister Robin and brother Chris.

Such sad news to hear of Tom's passing. He was a dear friend that I was able to get to know as I worked closely with his wife Debbie for 8 years. I will never forget my first day on the job, Tom made a prank call to me to break me in good. Lol He was a man of many words and much wisdom. He had a love for music and people and literally never met a stranger. He always had an interesting story or joke to tell, a prank to pull, and left everyone shaking their head at his twisted, wicked sense of humor. He will be missed dearly!! Debbie, I am sending prayers for peace and comfort to you and the family in the days, weeks and month's to come. Love you! Rest in peace Tom <3

What a great friend! Think I met Tom in 1975 when I was working at Nick's in Durham. Spent some awfully fun times hanging out with Tom, Mike Kinzley and lots of other people who were working there! Glad that I had a recent opportunity to get together with Tom again, and meet his wonderful wife! So sorry for your loss, Debi!

My condolences to Debbie and Tom’s family. Tom was a good friend who was true, honest, and straight forward. And what charm! Only Tom could entertain two middle aged women at a flea market with the story of the “Man from Nantucket”, and get aeay with it.
Love you brother.

Dear Tom -
You will never know how much your kindness and support of a young woman meant to me. Your willingness to accept my daughter and help her in her search to find her extended family as you searched for your own will forever hold a special place in my heart. Even though you weren't technically my family you became my daughter's out of your love and acceptance of her. I'm sorry that we didn't get to know one another. But you will be loved and thought of with a grateful heart by me forever.
Love, Jasmine's Mom
